Just like helmets for your teeth
Crowns are needed when a tooth has had big fillings, cracks, or have been traumatized. They are also necessary after root canal treatment to ensure that your investment to save the tooth continues to last for years to come.
A bridge is similar to a crown in that it supports and strengthens your teeth, additionally, it is used to fill in spaces where teeth are missing. They are commonly used when a denture or implant is not a suitable treatment option. A bridge consists of an artificial tooth that is attached to an adjacent tooth or teeth to ‘bridge the gap’. The treatment process is the same as that of a crown.
If you have any questions regarding crowns and bridgework, we are always happy to discuss whether this is a suitable treatment option for you.
What to expect
Crown and bridge treatment usually occurs over two appointments.
In the first appointment the tooth is shaped and polished to an ideal shape. We then take a 3d scan and photos of the teeth, to communicate with our laboratory technician our specific requirements.
We use a local laboratory based in Sydney, which ensures that the crown you receive is up to the highest standard and follows the principals of support, aesthetics and strength.
During your second appointment, the crown is bonded to your tooth to ensure longevity. Slight adjustments may be made to ensure that everything looks and feels natural.
